Supplementary Exam Applications and Exam Schedule for Students Who Have Completed the Maximum Duration of Education as of the End of the Spring Term of the 2024-2025 Academic Year

Article 44, subparagraph c, of Law No. 2547, concerning diplomas, course credit calculations, student rights, and exams, states: "Students must complete two-year associate degree programs within a maximum of four years, four-year undergraduate programs within a maximum of seven years, five-year undergraduate programs within a maximum of eight years, and six-year undergraduate programs within a maximum of nine years, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled in are offered, excluding the one-year foreign language preparatory class."

Currently enrolled students who have reached their maximum study period at the end of the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year are entitled to two supplementary exams for all courses they have failed, never taken before, or have taken but failed due to absenteeism. The exam schedule for students taking these supplementary exams is as follows.

APPLICATION METHOD FOR SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMS

Students who have reached their maximum time limit at the end of the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year and wish to exercise their supplementary exam eligibility can access the Student Information System between the announced dates and select the courses for which they will exercise their application/exam eligibility from the "Application Procedures Menu/Supplementary Exam Application" menu. Students who previously benefited from supplementary exam rights at the end of the maximum period of study and received additional time cannot apply.

APPLICATION CONDITIONS AND APPLICATION PRINCIPLES

1. Students who have completed the maximum period of study but are not in their final year will be dismissed.

2. Students who wish to benefit from their examination rights at the end of the maximum period of study must apply through the student information system on the dates specified in the work plan annexed to the academic calendar of the year in which their maximum period of study expires. Students who do not apply to benefit from their examination rights are considered to have waived these rights, and procedures will be carried out in accordance with the article in the application principles applicable to the student's situation.

3. The actual date, location, and time of the examinations are determined by the unit's Executive Boards and announced on the unit's websites. Exams contribute 100%, and the passing grade must be DD or above.

4. Exam rights and application principles are specified below.

a. Students who fail only one course at the end of the maximum period of study or supplementary exams are granted unlimited examination rights without benefiting from student rights. These students will be eligible to take the exams in the semester in which the course is offered, at the end of the semester, and They must take make-up exams. The success requirement is as specified in Article 3. If a student fails a course due to absenteeism, they must fulfill the attendance requirement.

b. Those who reduce their number of failed courses to a total of five courses, including those they never took/could not take or those they took but failed to meet the attendance requirement, from their registered program without taking the supplemental exams, are granted an extension of four semesters. Students granted additional time must take the midterm, final, and make-up exams in the semester in which the courses are offered during this period.

c. ç. Senior students who have received passing grades in all courses required for graduation from their program but are facing dismissal due to failure to achieve the required GPA are granted the right to take unlimited exams in any course they choose to improve their GPA. A student who does not take any exams for three consecutive or intermittent academic years is deemed to have waived his or her right to take unlimited exams and will be dismissed from the university.

d. Students granted unlimited exam rights and additional time continue to pay the student contribution/tuition fee for each course they take.

5. Students who fail more than five courses, including those they did not take or did not take or failed to meet the attendance requirement, will be dismissed.

EXTRA TIME APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Students who qualify for additional time after completing additional exams will be exempt from the additional term starting in the fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. Following the administrative board decision of the academic units following the completion of the additional exams, students must pay the tuition fee per course and register/re-register with the unit's student affairs office. Students will exercise their exam rights for courses granted additional time during the midterm and final exams held in the relevant semesters.
